The Preferred Candidate Will Have: 

  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting a safe working environment
  • A demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively within a team environment, and with a network of Dealers, Customers and Vendors
  • A post- secondary education in a technical or business related discipline
  • A relevant designation such as the APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or equivalent
  • 5 + years of previous Purchasing and Global Sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment - preferably in the Heavy Construction or Mining Equipment Industry
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and experience
  • Strong computer skills using an ERP system (Infor Syteline) and Microsoft Office software
  • Familiarity with an organization servicing international customers is an asset
  • Previous experience in domestic and international Truck, Rail, Sea and Air shipping
  • Demonstrated experience with Lean/Operational Excellence/Continuous improvement methods. Certification in Six Sigma, Gemeda, or similar accredited program is an asset
  • Knowledge of ISO 18001, 9001, and 14001 Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management systems and auditing is an asset
  • The ability to travel outside of Canada


Position Responsibilities Include: 

  • Promoting a safe work environment with hourly and salary employees
  • Contributes to the Company’s Business Planning Cycle, including Sales Conferences, Strategic Planning Meetings, Quarterly Performance Reviews, and Regular Management meetings to drive change in the organization
  • Leading a team of Planners, Buyers, and Warehousing personnel to effectively source and provide parts, components, and services required for the production of equipment, the supply of aftermarket parts, and the operation of the business
  • Establish and continually improve policies and procedures related to Supply Chain in alignment with Company objectives and ISO 18001, 9001 and 14001 requirements
  • Manage Supplier relationships, and negotiate Terms, Conditions and Pricing
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to investigate new and alternative sources for parts and components to continue to pursue the best value for the Company
  • Prepare appropriate departmental and corporate reports
  • Review and approve all purchase orders and contracts
  • Coordinate expediting of purchased goods as required by customer and manufacturing demands
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure the appropriate levels are maintained to maximize Inventory Turns metrics
  • Work with warehouse operations on shipping, receiving and inventory issues
  • Promote a work environment that encourages and fosters communication, teamwork, and innovation
